As the founder of the National Diversity Council, I would like to welcome you to the third edition of the 2015 Texas Diversity Council Newsletter. I am very proud of the work we have done so far and excited about the momentum we continue to have. The growth of our mission is apparent with the participation in the Montgomery County Women in Leadership Symposium earlier this month as well as the upcoming Golden Triangle Symposium on September 24. We look forward to continuing this knowledge-laden event in both of these new markets, and furthering the creation of a diverse work environment, where people from all walks of life will be able to share their fresh perspectives and viewpoints.
The Texas Diversity Council works to bring together the healthcare community to engage in dialog and action on diversity & leadership best practices. The theme for this year is “Transformational Diversity in Healthcare”.
It is indeed a privilege to announce the launch of the Council for Latino Workplace Equity (CLWE). We have arrived at a very important moment in our society where achieving diversity and inclusion in an era of innovation and transformation is key to the growth and attainment of the Hispanic population in the United States. We recognize the contributions made and the important presence of the Hispanic/Latino population to our nation and celebrate our culture.
The Texas Diversity Council proudly announces the Annual Best Practices & DiversityFIRST™ Awards Luncheon Series. This year’s theme is, “Promoting Excellence through Diversity & Inclusion.” “The DiversityFIRST™ Luncheons are organized to educate individuals on diversity and inclusion best practices, while also honoring those individuals and organizations who have championed these principles in the workplace and community,” said Dennis Kennedy, CEO and Founder of the Texas Diversity Council.

HOUSTON, TX— As a destination occupation, the field of diversity and inclusion offers tremendous opportunities for a variety of professionals in every industry. In our increasingly global environment, understanding the value of diversity and inclusion, and being able to translate that knowledge into a demonstrable ROI, is paramount to both employee and organizational success. Based on demand from its nationwide network of partners, the National Diversity Council is pleased to announce the launch of the DiversityFIRST™ Certification Program to be held November 16-20 in Houston.
As September 15 comes closer on our calendar, we begin to see cities and communities across the United States start the process of planning parades, festivals, guest speakers, and other important cultural necessities in order to celebrate what is quickly becoming one of the preeminent 30 day celebrations, also known as National Hispanic Heritage Month. We have come a long way in terms of getting recognition in the country. Hispanics represent the second most populous group, and the largest minority in the United States and it shows.
