Greetings from the Founder of the National Diversity Council, Dennis Kennedy

Dennis Kennedy

As the founder of the National Diversity Council, I would like to welcome you to the second edition of the 2013 Texas Diversity Council Newsletter. We are very excited about the upcoming year and the events we have planned for our community. Our most popular undertaking, the Texas Diversity and Leadership Conference, was held on April 3rd-5th with over 200 professionals in attendance. Executive women from companies across the Texas area at the conference were honored with "Most Powerful and Influential Women Award" during breakfast. Attendees also had the opportunity to attend a series of concurrent panel discussions, which focused on professional development. Keynote speakers for the program included Soledad O'Brien, Special CNN Correspondent and Host of Starting Point; Dr. Gilda Garcia, VP Institutional Equity & Diversity, University of North Texas; Angie Sherrell, Automotive Marketing Executive; and Dr. Gregory J. Vincent, VP Diversity & Community Engagement, University of Texas at Austin. We look forward to maintaining this knowledge-laden event in Texas, and furthering the creation of a diverse work environment, where people from all walks of life will be able to share their fresh perspectives and viewpoints. As the Texas Diversity Council continues to grow, we will add initiatives and programs, which address a broader variety of topics, such as corporate responsibility, women's leadership, and the importance of education among our youth. We will also offer consulting and mentoring services specifically catered to your organization's needs, whether it be the formulation of diversity and inclusion efforts, corporate responsibility programs, or any other initiatives you may require. For a complete list of all our 2013 events, please visit our website at www.texasdiversitycouncil.org/NEWWP1/calendar/2013-calendar. I hope you will have the opportunity to participate in some of our upcoming 2013 events and learn more about our organization, as we continue to champion, educate, and raise awareness about diversity issues in Texas- one organization and one community at a time.

Sincerely, Dennis Kennedy Founder and CEO National Diversity Council
