Greetings from the Founder of the National Diversity Council, Dennis Kennedy
As founder of the National Diversity Council, I would like to welcome you to the fourth and final edition of the 2013 Texas Diversity Council Newsletter. As the winter holidays approach, I invite you to look back on all our events and programs from this past year and learn how you can become more involved with the council's work in 2014. A highlight from the Texas Diversity Council's work in 2013 includes our Diversity and Leadership Conference held in Dallas. Hundreds of professionals attended in order network and share diversity best practices. In addition, participants heard and learned about the importance and necessity of diversity and inclusion from numerous keynote speakers, including Soledad O'Brien. She highlighted the benefits of a diverse workforce while sharing additional leadership advice geared towards helping attendees pursue their own career goals and successfully rise to the top. Our Diversity and Leadership Conference serves as a sample of the many tremendous events held in Texas during 2013. Next year, I am excited to be celebrating the Texas Diversity Council's 10th year anniversary where we plan to go back to San Antonio where it all began. I hope to see many of you there. Thank you for taking the time to read our publication, and for supporting diversity and inclusion in 2013. We have made many strides this past year in breaking down barriers and continuing to cultivate an environment where everyone is valued for their uniqueness. An array of challenges remain, however, and so I hope you will join us in 2014, as we continue on our mission to promote diversity and inclusion in Texas's businesses and communities. Happy Holidays!
