Texas Diversity Council Helps Shape the Next Generation Women Leaders

The Texas Diversity Council and the Central Texas Advisory Board helped kick start the 2013 Event Calendar with the Central Texas Young Women's Leadership Symposium on Saturday, January 26th. Young ladies from across the Austin area and as far as New Braunfels, TX came to take part in this half day event, which took place at John B. Connally High School. It was a phenomenal opportunity to transform our community into a truly inclusive environment where young women are encouraged to reach their full potential. The goal of this Symposium was to promote the development of future leaders by providing young women access to mentors, which included Austin area women leaders, high school mentors as well as college mentors. It focused on overcoming obstacles, dealing with change, building self- esteem and learning about STEM careers (Science Technology Engineering Math). Rachelle Warren, Pflugerville ISD, served as the Symposium Chair with Dona Kilby Costa, Director Recruiting representing Romano's Macaroni Grill® as the symposium title sponsor. Preparations are already under way to bring in the next round of young female leaders. Similar symposiums were held at the close of 2012 in Dallas, Houston & San Antonio.
