Texas Diversity Council Launches Corpus Christi Advisory Board

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — The Texas Diversity Council (TXDC) is excited to announce the launch of the Corpus Christi Advisory Board. Since its launch in 2004, the Texas Diversity Council (TXDC) has established FIVE state councils throughout the state of Texas. The Councils serve the greater Metropolitan Areas of Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and recently Fort Worth. Corpus Christi has now been added to the list. The TXDC is committed to fostering a learning environment for organizations to grow in their knowledge of diversity. The TXDC is a great opportunity for organizations to learn from some of the top corporate leaders in the area of diversity. The organization continues to strengthen as major Fortune 500 companies become active partners such as AT&T, Inc., Microsoft, Valero Energy Corporation, and The Boeing Company, to name a few. “Diversity and Inclusion is more than just an idea or something to follow…it has become a major piece in the success of these organizations due to the changing workforce and need to stay competitive,” says Dennis Kennedy, Founder & CEO, Texas Diversity Council. Leading the expansion effort will be Angeles Valenciano, Vice President Business Development. Ms. Valenciano has over15 years in Human Resources, ten dedicated to Diversity, Organizational Change and Development. “There has been significant progress in the last couple of years as the notion of diversity and inclusion seems to take a new direction as far as how it is perceived. It is no longer about race and gender – the conversation is now about multiculturalism and the global society we live in,” she states. Ms. Valenciano is excited about reaching out to leaders in the Corpus Christi area and to help make a different in bringing cultural awareness to the forefront. H-E-B, one of the largest Texas employers and a TXDC Platinum member, will be hosting the first interest meeting Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at their Training Center on 444 Kostoryz Road Ste.102, Corpus Christi, TX 78415. James Harris, Director, Supplier Diversity, H-E-B, and also a TXDC Board of Director will be taking attendees through “H-E-B’s Commitment to Diversity”. Ms. Angeles Valenciano will then follow with the history of the Texas Diversity Council and Advisory Board opportunities.
