Higher

U.S. Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings has shifted her focus from K-12 to colleges and universities. The Commission on the Future of Higher Education was formed to launch a national dialogue to strengthen higher education and Spellings is pushing for a major overhaul of financing, assessment, accessibility and perhaps even coursework in higher education.
The final report (http://www.ed.gov/about/bdscomm/list/hiedfuture/reports/final-report.pdf) argued that colleges and universities were not prepared for the challenges of an increasingly diverse population. Therefore there is a vital need for practical tools to identify and assess diversity on campuses, including processes to identify strengths, weaknesses and potential remedial steps. The First Annual Diversity in Higher Education will explore issues surrounding development and implementation of effective diversity practices and initiatives within educational institutions.
